Prince Harry, renowned for his sense of humor and playful demeanor, delighted officials and athletes alike at the 2023 Invictus Games in Dusseldorf over the weekend. The British royal engaged with Team UK Athlete Charlie Holford and even posed for a selfie, donning Holford’s futuristic wrap-around pink sunglasses while sporting a wide grin.

The 32-year-old army veteran, scheduled to compete in Indoor Rowing, Sitting Volleyball, and Wheelchair Rugby, recounted the playful encounter, stating, “I told him he could try them on.” However, he humorously added, “I told him he couldn’t keep them.”

A swipe reveals Prince Harry mockingly appearing glum in a second picture. Chris, known as “onelegandamullet” on Instagram, concluded, “He did get to stroke my hair though; he left a happy man.”

Prince Harry officially launched the 2023 Invictus Games during an opening ceremony where he delivered an emotive speech. While his wife, Meghan, remained in their LA home with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, she is expected to join him later during the Games. During his speech, Prince Harry mentioned Meghan in a lighthearted moment, acknowledging the addition of new nations to the Invictus Games since the last event in 2022 in The Hague, which was delayed for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prince Harry confirmed the participation of Colombia, Israel, and Nigeria in the Games, joking, “Now I’m not saying we play favorites in our home, but since my wife has discovered that she is of Nigerian descent, it’s likely to get a little more competitive this year.” It’s worth noting that Harry had traveled to Germany after leaving Windsor, where he had paid tribute to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the anniversary of her passing.
