Despite a joint statement the couple had previously posted on social media, Joe, a member of the Jonas Brothers, had remained tight-lipped about the details of their separation. However, during the band’s recent concert at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, Joe candidly spoke to the crowd of fans, shedding light on his feelings.
Before performing “Hesitate,” a song inspired by his relationship with Turner, Joe Jonas addressed the audience, including Entertainment Weekly reporters, saying, “It’s been a crazy week.” He went on to add, “I just wanna say, look: If you don’t hear it from these lips, don’t believe it. Okay? Thank you, everyone, for your love and support. Me and my family love you guys.”
These comments came shortly after Joe filed for divorce from Sophie Turner, with legal documents citing that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.” The couple, who enjoyed four years of marriage and share two daughters, had purchased a Miami home in 2022 but sold the property earlier this year.
To make their separation official, Turner and Jonas released a joint statement on their respective social media accounts, stating, “After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage.” Acknowledging various rumors surrounding their split, they added, “There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Following his heartfelt message to the audience, Joe Jonas performed the emotional ballad “Hesitate,” a love song he had penned for Turner in anticipation of their 2019 wedding. He once explained in the 2020 Jonas Brothers documentary, “Chasing Happiness,” “It’s like my vows before I wrote my vows… It’s my promise to Sophie. For me, it takes me to a whole other universe. I’m seeing her walk down the aisle again every time I close my eyes.”
